Cash movement refers to transferring money across borders or within countries for violent extremist groups or individuals.
Cash remains the primary means of moving funds among violent extremist groups in the Western Balkans. The violent far-right extremism groups benefit significantly from the region’s informal economy. With informal employment rates ranging between 20% and 30%,40 the widespread use of cash-based transactions enables fund movements with minimal regulatory oversight.
